What Daring to Draw can do

Have you and your kids signed up to be part of our Dare to Draw?
Starting Monday, Jan. 16, participating children will create one drawing a day for 30 days. Their parents – and, we hope, grandparents, aunts and uncles, too – will sponsor them with a $1 donation to the Stephen Lewis Foundation for each drawing.
Here’s an explanation of where the money will go.
• The Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) is a non-profit that supports community-based organizations that help people living with HIV and AIDS in sub-Saharan Africa. It supports grassroots organizations that are already doing good work there, as opposed to prescribing solutions from outside.
• SLF has funded more than 700 initiatives and 300 organizations in 15 countries since 2003.
• These grassroots groups provide care and treatment, food, medicine and other necessities for people living with or affected by HIV and AIDS.
• For the millions of children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic, SLF provides access to education and grief counselling.
• SLF supports the grandmother-led households where 40 to 60 per cent orphans live.
