How do you figure out the best neighbourhood for your Halloween haul?
Well, we assumed a few things. Mostly, that densely populated neighbourhoods with lots of kids and above average incomes equals more treats.
So, using census data we compiled a GTA average for each of these four areas:
- Percentage of semi-detached homes which tend to be more densely population. (average is 7.52 per cent.)
- The average value of homes. ($395,839).
- Percentage of children up to age 14 (19 per cent)
- And family income. ($94,100).
We then looked at all neighbourhoods and weighted the values proportionally. (For instance a home worth $2 million would raise the neighbourhood average higher than a home worth $400,000 even though both are above the average.)
Then we added up the results.
