(1) Agreement: These rules, (the “Contest Rules”), govern the “parentcentral.ca Back to School Contest” (the “Contest”). Before entering the Contest, each entrant must review and be subject to the Contest Rules. No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest. The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest Rules and the decisions of the Contest Judges. All decisions of the Contest Judges are final. The Contest Rules may be found at www.parentcentral.ca.
(2) Sponsors: The Contest Sponsor is parentcentral.ca, a division of Star Media Group Digital.
(3) Eligibility: The Contest is open to all residents of Ontario, 18 years of age or older, except for employees or contractors, their immediate families and anyone living with any employee or contractor, of the Contest Sponsor or its or their corporate affiliates, advertising or promotional agencies or affiliates. Incomplete or illegible entries or other mechanically or electronically reproduced entries will not be accepted and will be disqualified.
(4) Contest: The Contest period runs from Monday, August 18, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. ET to Friday, September 19, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”). Entries must be received by parentcentral.ca within this stated period to be eligible for the prize. A random draw will be conducted on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at approximately 12:00 p.m. ET and the potential winner will be contacted the same day as the random draw, by telephone at the daytime telephone number recorded on their entry, during regular business hours (ET), and have 24 hours to respond, failing which the contest organizers shall be entitled to select a new name from the qualified entrants, and the original potential winner shall have no further claim.
(5) How to Enter: Official entry is at www.parentcentral.ca: Log on to www.parentcentral.ca and search the site to find the animated icon. Click on the icon, and you will land at the official entry form. Fill out the form and submit for your chance to win.
The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for late entries and no entries will be permitted after the Contest Period, no matter when they were sent or deposited. Only one entry per person per day during the contest period is permitted. The odds of being selected as a potential winner depends on the total number of eligible entries received. In order to win, the potential winners must also correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question.
(6) Prize: Five (5) prizes (each, a “prize”) are available to be won consisting of one (1): HP Photosmart C4385 All-in-One (AiO) Printer, Scanner and Copier along with one (1) HP Brochure and one (1) package of Flyer Paper and HP Vivera Inks. Each prize package is valued at approximately $150 Canadian. Featuring built-in wireless and a 1.5-inch colour display, the HP Photosmart C4385 All-in-One makes it easy to print photos and documents from any room in the house without messy cords. Prizes must be accepted as awarded.
If winners are unable or unwilling to claim their prize, for any reason, the next eligible entry selected by random draw will be contacted and the first entrant will have no further claim to the prize.
(7) Privacy: We will use personal contact information to administer the Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting prize winners. Contests are run in compliance with the Toronto Star’s privacy code, which may be found in full at www.thestar.com.
(8) Banning: The Sponsor may, in their sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering any contest whom they believe to be abusing the Contest Rules. Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more than once per person per day.
(9) Declaration and Release: Prior to receiving the prize, winners will be required to show valid photo ID, must sign a declaration of eligibility and compliance with the Contest Rules, and will be required to sign a release and consent to publicity form, releasing and indemnifying the Contest Sponsor and respective parent(s), subsidiaries, affiliates and/or related companies and each of their officers, directors, shareholders, employees, advisors, assignees, agents, licensees, representatives, advertising, media buying and promotional agencies from any liability in connection with the Contest and/or the Prize, including but not limited to injuries, death, damages or losses of any kind resulting from the Contest, including but not limited to acceptance or use of the Prize. Prior to receiving the prizes, Prize Winner shall agree to have his/her name, city of residence, photograph, voice and/or image used in any and all forms of media, without further compensation by any Contest Sponsor and/or their advertising and promotional agencies. If the Contest Sponsor does not receive the signed form as contemplated herein, back within 24 hours, then the Contest Sponsor may draw for another potential winner and the first winner will have no further claim to that prize.
(10) General: The Contest Sponsor reserves the right in their sole discretion to cancel, suspend or modify the Contest or the Contest Rules at any time without notice. All prizes must be accepted as awarded and are not convertible to cash. All prizes are awarded as is and no warranties or guarantees are implied or expressed, beyond standard warranties. Contest Sponsor is not liable for any errors or negligence that may arise in connection with this Contest or the Prizes. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize with a prize of equal or greater value. The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for lost or misdirected or late or ineligible entries. Winners must be willing to accept prize delivery upon Contest Sponsor’s terms and delivery times.
(11) Internet: Contest Sponsor is not responsible for any entries that are lost, misdirected, incomplete or illegible, or for the inability to process entries, or any errors, damage or negligence that may arise in connection with the Contest, including failed, partial or garbled computer transmissions, or for technical failures of any kind including, but not limited to, malfunctioning of any network, hardware or software, human error, or property damage which may limit an entrant’s ability to participate in the Contest. Proof of sending will not be proof of receipt by the Contest Sponsor. The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for any on-line or other charges that may be incurred in connection with participating in the Contest. The Contest Sponsor is not responsible for the availability or content of any other website to which the Website is linked. The Contest Sponsor makes no representations or warranties and there are no conditions of any kind, express or implied, statutory or otherwise, with respect to the Website, including without limitation, that the Website will meet entrant’s requirements, always be available, accessible, accurate or secure. The Contest Sponsor will not be liable for any damages of any kind including without limitation direct, indirect, incidental, punitive and consequential damages arising out of or in connection with participation in the Contest, the use of the Website, or downloading any materials in this Contest. Use of any method, mechanism, device, or software affecting the proper functioning of the Contest or the Website is strictly prohibited. The Contest Sponsor may, in their sole discretion and without notice, terminate the right of any entrant in the Contest or user of the Website to participate in the Contest or use the Website, including disqualifying of any individual who tampers with the entry process.
Caution: Any attempt by an entrant to deliberately damage any website or other components or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such entrant to the fullest extent permitted by law.
(12) Subject to Applicable Laws: This Contest is governed by and subject to all applicable federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations and is void where prohibited. This Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein. By participating in this Contest, entrants agree to be bound by these Contest Rules and the decisions of the Judges in awarding the prize, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all entrants. Failure to comply with these Contest Rules may void the entrant’s rights to any Prize. Interpretation of these Contest Rules by the Contest Sponsor shall be final and binding.
