Toronto trustees push for GST campaign

Toronto trustees have pledged $50,000 to a multimedia campaign that makes the case for boards getting a GST exemption – if the funds can be found in the public school board budget.
Trustees also want their chair John Campbell to try to broach Prime Minister Stephen Harper on the issue – possibly at the 50th anniversary gala at Richview Collegiate, where Harper graduated top of the class.
School boards now get back 68 per cent of GST expenditures.
