Health Canada recalls wooden Evenflo baby gates

Health Canada has issued a recall of Evenflo Top-of-StairTM Plus Wood Gates, with model number 10502.
The wooden slats on the gate can break or detach, posing a fall hazard when the gate is used at the top of a staircase, according to a notice on Health Canada’s consumer product safety website.
In Canada, Evenflo has received 26 incident reports, including one minor injury.
In the United States, the company received reports of 142 incidents and 11 minor injuries, including bumps, scrapes and scratches. An additional two children gained access to the stairs and fell down some stairs.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of this product.
The model number can be found on the bottom rail. Only products with a date of manufacture between October 2007 and July 2009 are included in this recall. The date appears on the gate next to the model number. The recalled wood gates can also be identified by UPC 032884145652.
