Mittens get a grip

It's freezing outside and you're pushing a stroller, juggling a purse, cellphone and gloves. How many times have you, realized, blocks later, you're missing a glove? A Manhattan mom has come up with a solution: Mommy Mittens. These weatherproof, machine-washable "mitts" work something like an old-fashioned muff. They attach to single-handle strollers with velcro – allowing mom to answer her cellphone, or get her keys, simply by removing her hands from the warmth of the "mittens."
"I was out running errands with my daughter in the stroller in our New York City neighbourhood and it had just started getting chilly outside," says creator Amy Sapirstein. "I did not have my mittens even out of storage yet – then the idea struck me."
"The mittens are ideal for all busy moms who have to push their little ones in their stroller no matter what the weather," says Sapirstein. "Moms in big cities `live' in their strollers, so anything that makes us more comfortable and simplifies our day is a must in my book."
Mommy Mittens come in two colours: Black with a plush pink interior or blue interior. They come with a zippered compartment, for easy access to house keys, cellphone, pacifiers or transit fare.
